Wash hands and genitals well with warm water& soap. Disinfect urine outlet with Dettol. Wash disinfectant away with water only. Urinate first drop into toilet bowl then remainder in the sterilized jar provided. In case urine sample is sent, make sure it arrives at the lab within two hours at the latest.(Unless the physician asked for anything else)Stop taking antibiotics for at least 48 hours before test.

24 hr Urine collection

Immediately upon waking up in the morning urinate in the toilet bowl and record the time. Following this and through to the next day, collect each drop of urine at the same time (24 hours). Keep urine refrigerated.

Must be first morning urine and must be sent separately to the lab each day.

Required to abstain from sexual intercourse or a wet dream for 3-5 consecutive days so as not to be affected by quantity of the sample also prefer to give the sample in the lab and it is essential to obtain the first drops of semen because these drops constitutes 3/4 of the sperm count but if sample is obtained outside the Lab it should not pass more than 20 minutes. It also should be noted that the presence of water or soap or cream inside the semen bottle affect the movement and vitality of sperm. Semen is examined in our branches to record viscosity (20 minutes) as well as Motility after an hour of sampling.

Prostate smear

Patient should have an appointment,

Required to abstain from sexual intercourse or wet dream for a period of 3-5 days prior to analysis and take a urine sample before prostate and other urine sample after prostate to differentiate between pus from the penis, prostate or urethra. The sample is examined in the branch before it is sent to the main laboratory in search for Trichomonase.

Penis smear

No urination for one hour prior to the test so that the urethra is completely dry to make sure that the existing microbe is that of the penis rather than urine.

Vaginal smear

Patient should have an appointment.

Required not to have intercourse for two days until we are sure that the microbe took his chance for growth and antibiotic antibiotic should be stopped for 48 hours.

Stool culture

Sample must be received by the lab within 2 hours at least because there are some microbes that die quickly.Samples received in children Pampers or carton box are not acceptable because it absorbs fluid from the sample and drought kills microbes. Stop taking antibiotics for at least 48 hours before test.

Invisible blood in stool (Occult blood)

48 hours before the test, patient must stop eating all kinds of meat, turnips, medication for rheumatism, any medication containing Aspirin, Vitamin C, Cortisone or iron as well as any laxatives.

The patient must not go through for laparoscopy or catheter or DRE 10 days prior to analysis unless the doctor have another indication in this case it should be recorded on job order.

Asthma & Epilepsy Drugs

Medication must be taken regularly for 5 days at least to reach a constant blood level of the drug, provided there is no vomiting or diarrhea for 48 hours before the test. The first drop of blood is taken immediately before the morning dose to assess the least blood level of the drug (trough) and the second after several hours from the dose to assess the maximum blood level of the drug (peak). And that to determine the therapeutic dose of the drug and not to reach the toxic level.
